Cubs vs. Phillies MLB Pick – August 13th

The Philadelphia Phillies are back home after a difficult weekend against the San Francisco Giants on the west coast. The Phillies dropped three of four games. Bryce Harper had fun telling fans to become silent after a clutch home run into their single win, but three of the four reductions would be nothing to get excited about. And that’s been the issue with Bryce this year, he could show up and knock in a clutch hit after a month.
That isn’t enough for a guy getting his pay. We’re entering clutch season, so hopefully for the Phillies, the best is yet to come with Harper. Like I have said before, when he catches fire and leads the Phillies to a deep postseason series, all will soon be forgotten due to his earlier conflicts.
If Harper had been playing well all season, the Phillies will likely threatening that the Braves right now. I’d require ten hands to count the amount of times he has had an opportunity to bust a match open and he drops short. Pitching wins games in the postseason. Everybody understands that and Bryce along with his 330 million-dollar contract has to counter that. In any event, the Phillies simply need to fret about getting into the postseason.
The Phillies are not going into the postseason when the Wild Card Game was now. They are two games back, using the afternoon off so that they weren’t about to improve. Cardinals and the Nationals are now holding onto slender leads. It’s still anyone’s division at this point. The Diamondbacks who traded their genius are in the mixture.
That does not speak to how great the middle of this National League is. It’s been quite poor and the only whole team in the NL to speak of has been the Dodgers. Even the Phillies welcome a Cubs team That Are beneath the NL Central by two games on the Cardinals. Philadelphia is the second stop on their road trip after a separation in Cincinnati from the Reds. The Cubs got some positive information on Sunday together with all the effort by Jon Lester. He showed up and also pitched a decent game to get out of a funk. Lester was struggling mightily and that might be a step in the ideal path for him. He managed to greatest ace Luis Castillo and direct the Cubs to a 6-3 triumph.
A split for your Cubs on the road would be an improvement. Considering they have a listing of 23-35 around the street, .500 is far better compared to their overall campaign for a visitor this season. The Cubs will probably likely be on the road for another six matches before return to Wrigley.
They hope to not just win three more games, however. Jose Quintana is going to be tasked with leading the pitching staff for the Cubs this day. He moves using a respectable ERA of both 4.23 at 129.2 innings. That is on pace for his profession, so no openings from Quintana.
He has enabled 5 home runs and 15 runs contrary to the Phillies in 139 at-bats. Quintana has been slightly worse pitching on the road, posting a 4.34 ERA along with 1.41 WHIP around the street. His latest revealing contrary to the Phillies has been a success in a 3-2 win, but that was at Wrigley Field.
Former New York Met, Jason Vargas will seem to settle in for the Phillies. Vargas was the only member who ended up getting moved after all of those rumors . No Wheeler or Syndergaard, however, just Vargas.
He was sharp in his debut with the Phillies, allowing two runs contrary to the White Sox at 6.1 innings at home. It turned out to be a separate story for him on the street against the Diamondbacks in Arizona, as he was struck 4 runs in 5 innings.
Vargas has performed better in the home in 2019, posting a 2.92 ERA and 1.18 WHIP rather than some 5.23 ERA along with 1.33 WHIP on the road. The Phillies as a group are better at home with a list of 34-26. Philadelphia are among the most cold and hot teams in the majors.
Observing the screen they place on San Francisco, then the general public will probably be on the Cubs here. This is actually the Phillies, however, and they look like another team series-to-series. I’m on the Phillies as little dwelling dogs Tuesday night.
